فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُوتِىَ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ قَالُوا۟ سِحْرَانِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِكُلٍّ كَٰفِرُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, ‘Why has he not been given the like of what was given to Moses?’ Did they not reject that which was given to Moses before? They say, ‘Two works of sorcery — the Torah and the Qur’an — that back up each other.’ And they say, ‘We disbelieve in all.’

But when the truth has come to them from Us, they say, [a]‘Why has he not been given the like of what was given to Moses?’ Did they not reject that which was given to Moses before? They say, ‘Two works of sorcery—the Torah and the Quran—that back up each other.’ And they say, ‘We disbelieve in all.’[2911]

6:125.

Commentary:

It is customary with disbelievers in the time of every Prophet that they demand from him signs and miracles which had been shown by a previous Prophet, while the disbelievers of that very Prophet had also rejected him in spite of the fact that he had shown the same miracles which disbelievers in the time of the later Prophet demanded. The verse exposes the absurdity of this worn out demand of disbelievers and purports to say that they demand from the Holy Prophet the same teachings which were given to Moses while the spiritual needs and requirements of the Holy Prophet’s time are different from those of Moses and, therefore, their demand is foolish. Yet when they are told that prophecies which were made by Moses have been fulfilled in the person of the Holy Prophet and that the teachings of the Quran in many respects support and corroborate the teachings of Torah, they say that both the Quran and the Torah are two pieces of magic that support each other.

But now when the truth has come to them from Us, they say, [b]‘Why has he not been given the like of what was given to Moses?’ Did they not reject that which was given to Moses before? They said, ‘Aaron and Moses are but two sorcerers who back up each other.’ And they say, ‘We reject the claim of both.’

6:125.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس جب ہماری طرف سے اُن کے پاس حق آگیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ اسے ویسا ہی کیوں نہ دیا گیا جیسا موسیٰ کو دیا گیا تھا۔ کیا وہ اِس سے پہلے اُس کا انکار نہیں کر چکے جو موسیٰ کو دیاگیا تھا؟انہوں نے یہ کہا تھا کہ یہ دو بہت بڑے جادوگر ہیں جو ایک دوسرے کے مددگار ہوئے اور انہوں نے کہا ہم تو یقیناً ہر ایک کا انکار کرنے والے ہیں۔

French

Mais maintenant que la vérité leur est parvenue de Notre part, ils disent : « Pourquoi ne lui a-t-il pas été accordé pareil à ce qui a été accordé à Moïse ? » N’avaient-ils pas rejeté ce qui avait été accordé à Moïse auparavant lorsqu’ils dirent : « Ce ne sont que deux magiciens qui se soutiennent mutuellement » ? Et ils disent : « Nous les rejetons tous sans exception. »

German

Doch als ihnen nun die Wahrheit von Uns kam, da sprachen sie: "Warum ist ihm nicht das gleiche gegeben worden wie das, was Moses gegeben ward?" Haben sie denn nicht das geleugnet, was Moses zuvor gegeben ward? Sie hatten gesagt: "Zwei Zauberwerke, die einander stützen." Und sie sagten: "Wir leugnen beide."

当我的真理降临他们时, 他们说: [a]“为什么他没有获得像穆撒所获得的 (教义)?” 他们在这之前, 未曾拒绝对穆撒的 (教义)? (那时) 他们曾说过: “这是两位魔术师, 是串通的。” 他们也曾说过: “我们拒绝每一个人的 (宣称)。”

Italian

Ma quando la verità giunse loro da Noi, essi dissero: «Perché non gli è stata data la stessa cosa che fu data a Mosè?.» Non avevano forse rifiutato ciò che era stato dato a Mosè? Essi dissero: «Sono semplicemente due lavori di magia - la Torah e il Corano - che si sostengono a vicenda»? E dissero: «Li rifiutiamo tutti.»**

Spanish

Pero cuando les llegó Nuestra verdad, dijeron: “¿Por qué no se le ha dado lo mismo que se le dio a Moisés?”. ¿Acaso no rechazaron lo que se le dio a Moisés antes? Dicen: “Sólo dos Magos que se ayudan mutuamente”. Y afirman: “Les rechazamos por completo”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پس جب ان کے پاس ہماری طرف سے حق آگیا تو انہوں نے کہا کیوں اس (یعنی محمد رسول اللہ) کو ویسی تعلیم نہیں ملی جیسی کہ موسیٰ کو ملی تھی۔ کیا انہوں نے موسیٰ کی تعلیم کا اس سے پہلے انکار نہیں کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے تو کہہ دیا تھا کہ یہ دو بڑے جادو گر ہیں جو ایک دوسرے کی مدد کرتے ہیں اور کہہ دیا تھا کہ ہم ان میں سے ہر ایک کے دعویٰ کے منکر ہیں۔

مگر جب ہمارے ہاں سے حق ان کے پاس آ گیا تو وہ کہنے لگے "کیوں نہ دیا گیا اِس کو وہی کچھ جو موسیٰؑ کو دیا گیا تھا؟" کیا یہ لوگ اُس کا انکار نہیں کر چکے ہیں جو اس سے پہلے موسیٰؑ کو دیا گیا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا "دونوں جادوگر ہیں جو ایک دُوسرے کی مدد کرتے ہیں" اور کہا "ہم کسی کو نہیں مانتے"

English - Sahih

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers."

پھر جب ان کے پاس ہماری طرف سے حق آ پہنچا تو کہنے لگے کیوں نہیں دیا گیا جیسا موسی کو دیا گیا تھا کیا انہوں نے اس چیز کا انکار نہیں کیا تھا جو موسیٰ کو اس سے پہلے دی گئی تھی کہنے لگے دونوں جادو گر آپس میں موافق ہیں اور کہا ہم کسی کو بھی نہیں مانتے

But when came to them the truth from Us they said, "Why not he was given (the) like (of) what was given (to) Musa?" Did not they disbelieve in what was given (to) Musa before? They said, "Two magic (works) supporting each other." And they said, "Indeed, we in all (are) disbelievers."

Yet when the truth came to them 'from Ourselves, they said, 'Why has he not been given the like' of that Moses was given?' But they, did they not disbelieve also in what Moses was given aforetime? They said, 'A pair of sorceries mutually supporting each other.' They said, 'We disbelieve both.'

But when the Truth reached them from Us, they said: "Why was he not given that which was given to Moses?" But did they not reject before what had been given to Moses? They said: "Both are magic, each supporting the other!" And they said: "We deny each of these."

Do they not then reject (the Signs) which were formerly sent to Moses? They say: "Two kinds of sorcery, each assisting the other!" And they say: "For us, we reject all (such things)!"

But when there came unto them the Truth from Our presence, they said: Why is he not given the like of what was given unto Moses? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given unto Moses of old? They say: Two magics that support each other; and they say: Lo! in both we are disbelievers.
