28:30

۞ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِۦٓ ءَانَسَ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ نَارًا قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And when Moses had fulfilled the term, and journeyed with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of the Mount. He said to his family, ‘Wait, I perceive a fire; haply I may bring you some useful information therefrom, or a burning brand from the fire that you may warm yourselves.’

And when Moses had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of the Mount. He said to his family, ‘Wait, [a]I perceive a fire; haply I may bring you some useful information therefrom, or a burning brand from the fire that you may warm yourselves.’[2895]

20:11; 27:8.

Important Words:

جذوة (burning brand) is derived from جذا. They say جذا علی الشیء i.e. he stood firmly upon a thing. جذوة means, a brand or firebrand; a thick piece of firewood not flaming; a piece of fire; a live coal. They say فلان جذوة شر i.e. such a one is a kindler or a piece of mischief (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

Seclusion and solitude are very essential for meditation and communion with the Divine Being. Moses sought separation from his family, in fact from all worldly contacts and connections, in order that he might be blessed with communion with God.

And when Moses had fulfilled the term, and set forth with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of the Mount. He said to his family, ‘Wait,[2212] [a]I perceive a fire; haply I may bring you some useful information therefrom, or a burning brand from the fire that you may warm yourselves.’

پس جب موسیٰ نے مقررہ مدت پوری کر دی اور اپنے گھر والوں کو لے کر چلا، اس نے طور کی طرف ایک آگ سی دیکھی۔ اس نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا ذرا ٹھہرو، مجھے ایک آگ سی دکھائی دے رہی ہے۔ ہو سکتا ہے کہ میں اُس (کے پاس) سے کوئی خبر تمہارے پاس لے آؤں یا کوئی آگ کا انگارہ لے آؤں تاکہ تم آگ تاپ سکو۔

French

Et lorsque Moïse eut rempli son terme, et fut parti avec sa famille, il aperçut un feu du côté du Mont. Il dit à sa famille : « Restez ici ; j’aperçois un feu ; il se peut que je vous en rapporte une information utile, ou un tison, afin que vous puissiez vous réchauffer «

German

Als Moses nun die Frist erfüllt hatte und mit seinen Angehörigen reiste, gewahrte er in der Richtung des Berges ein Feuer. Er sprach zu den Seinen: "Bleibt zurück, ich gewahre ein Feuer; vielleicht kann ich euch eine Kunde davon bringen oder einen Feuerbrand, so dass ihr euch wärmen könnt."

当穆撒完成了固定的限期, 带着家眷旅行时, 他从 (西乃) 山那方向看见 (一处) 有火。他对自己的家眷说: “你们等候在这里吧, [a]我看见火了, 也许我从那里为你们带来任何 (重要的) 消息, 也许带来被燃烧的木头供你们取暖。”

E dopo che Mosè ebbe compiuto il termine, e dopo che era partito con la sua famiglia, egli vide un fuoco nella direzione del monte. Egli disse alla sua famiglia: «Aspettate. Vedo un fuoco; forse vi porterò di là qualche informazione utile, o un tizzone ardente dal fuoco, così che possiate riscaldarvi.»

Y cuando Moisés hubo cumplido el plazo y viajaba con su familia, percibió un fuego en la dirección del Monte. Dijo a su familia: Aguardad, veo un fuego; tal vez os traiga alguna información útil de él, o un tizón ardiendo del fuego con el que calentaros”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

جب موسیٰ نے وقت مقررہ کو پورا کر لیا اور اپنے گھر والوں کو لے کے چلا تو اس نے طور کی طرف سے ایک آگ دیکھی (اور) اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا تم یہاں ٹھہرو‘ میں نے ایک آگ[2] دیکھی ہے‘ شاید میں وہاں سے تمہارے لئے کوئی (ضروری) خبر لاؤں یا کوئی آگ کا انگارہ لاؤں تاکہ تم سینکو۔

جب موسیٰؑ نے مدت پوری کر دی اور وہ اپنے اہل و عیال کو لے کر چلا تو طُور کی جانب اس کو ایک آگ نظر آئی اُس نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا "ٹھیرو، میں نے ایک آگ دیکھی ہے، شاید میں وہاں سے کوئی خبر لے آؤں یا اس آگ سے کوئی انگارہ ہی اُٹھا لاؤں جس سے تم تاپ سکو"

English - Sahih

And when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the direction of the mount a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves."

پھر جب موسیٰ وہ مدت پوری کر چکا اور اپنے گھر والوں کو لے کر چلا کوہِ طور کی طرف سے ایک آگ دیکھی اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا ٹھیرو میں نے ایک آگ دیکھی ہے شاید تمہارے پاس وہا ں کی کچھ خبر یا آگ کا انگارہ لے آؤں تاکہ تم سینکو

Then when Musa fulfilled the term and was traveling with his family, he saw in (the) direction (of) Mount Tur a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I [I] perceive a fire. So when Moses had accomplished the term and departed with his household, he observed on the side of the Mount a fire. He said to his household, 'Tarry you here; I observe a fire. Perhaps I shall bring you news of it, or a faggot from the fire, that haply you shall warm yourselves.'

When Moses had fulfilled the term and was journeying with his family, he perceived a fire in the direction of the Mount (Sinai). He said to his family: "Wait here; I have observed a fire. Maybe I will bring to you some news or a brand of fire from there that you may warm yourselves."

Then, when Moses had fulfilled the term, and was travelling with his housefolk, he saw in the distance a fire and said unto his housefolk: Bide ye (here). Lo! I see in the distance a fire; peradventure I shall bring you tidings thence, or a brand from the fire that ye may warm yourselves.
