قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۖ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ نَسْفًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Moses said, “Go away. It shall be thine to say throughout thy life, ‘Touch me not;’ and there is a promise of punishment for thee which shall not fail to be fulfilled about thee. Now look at thy god of which thou hast become a devoted worshipper. We will certainly burn it and then scatter it away into the sea.”

English - Five Volume Translation

Important Words:

ننسفنه (We will scatter it) is derived from نسف. They say نسف البناء i.e. he destroyed or uprooted the building from its foundation. نسف الجبال means, He broke the mountains into pieces. نسف الریحالشیء means, the wind uprooted or eradicated the thing and scattered it away (Aqrab).

Commentary:

The words "touch me not" may signify one of the following: (a) that Samiri was punished with a rigorous social boycott for having misled the Israelites into calf-worship; (b) that he was afflicted with some contagious skin disease so that people avoided contact with him; or (c) that he suffered from hypochondriasis and consequently shunned the company of men.

The mentioning together of the cow and the river is significant because generally the nations that worship the cow are found to worship rivers also.

English - Short Commentary Translation

Moses said. “Begone then! It shall be thine all this life to say to everyone, ‘Touch me not.’[1848] and there is a promise of punishment for thee which shall not fail to be fulfilled about thee. Now, look at thy god of which thou hast become a devoted worshipper. We will certainly burn it and then We will scatter its ashes into the sea;

اس نے کہا پس چلا جا۔ یقیناً تیرے لئے زندگی بھر یہی کہنا ہے کہ ”ہرگز نہیں چُھونا“۔ اور یقیناً تیرے لئے ایک مقررہ وقت کا وعدہ ہے جس کی تُجھ سے خلاف ورزی نہیں کی جائے گی۔ اور اپنے اس معبود کی طرف نظر کر جس کے حضور تُو بیٹھا رہا۔ ہم ضرور اُسے بھسم کردیں گے پھر اُسے سمندر میں اچھی طرح بکھیر دیں گے۔

French

. Moïse dit : « Va-t-en, donc ! Tu es condamné à dire aux gens pendant toute ta vie : 'Ne me touchez pas' ; et il y a pour toi une promesse de châtiment qui ne manquera pas d’être accomplie à ton égard. Maintenant regarde ton dieu dont tu es devenu un fervent adorateur. Nous le brûlerons certainement, et ensuite Nous le disperserons dans la mer.

German

(Moses) sprach: "Geh denn hin! Du sollst (dein) ganzes Leben lang sprechen müssen: "Berührt (mich) nicht"; und dann ist da eine Androhung (von Strafe) für dich, der du nicht entgehen wirst. So schaue nun auf deinen "Gott", dessen ergebener Anbeter du geworden bist. Wir werden ihn ganz gewiss verbrennen und ihn darauf ins Meer streuen."

穆撒说: “那么, 你去吧! 你在今世 (的惩罚是: 你在这个世界上) 对每一个人都要说: ‘不要接触我,[815] (意谓穆撒把我判为不洁的了。)’ (穆撒对他说:) 你的 (刑罚) 是固定了的, 你绝对不能避免它。你看你那个你常对其献身的崇拜对象吧! 我们必定焚化它, 然后把它消散在海中;

“不要接触我” 这句话可以表示: (a) سَامِرِی (Samiri) 由于把以色列人错误地引上崇拜牛的歧途而受到社会严厉抵制的惩罚。(b) 他受到某种皮肤传染病的折磨, 因而人们避免与他接触。(c) 他怀疑自己已患病而最后避开了同伴。

Italian

Mosè disse: «Allora vattene. Dovrai dire a chiunque per il resto della tua vita: “Non mi toccate.” E inoltre c'è per te una promessa di punizione che non mancherà di essere compiuta su di te. Ora guarda il tuo dio, di cui sei diventato un devoto adoratore. Ebbene, lo bruceremo e lo disperderemo in mare.»

Spanish

Moisés dijo: “Vete. Te corresponderá decir durante toda tu ida: ‘no me toquéis’”. Pues hay una promesa de castigo para ti que no dejará de cumplirse. Mira ahora a tu dios del cual te has convertido en adorador devoto. En verdad lo quemaremos y luego esparciremos sus cenizas en el mar”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(موسیٰ نے) کہا‘ اچھا تو جا‘ تیری اس دنیا میں یہی سزا ہے کہ تو اس (دنیا) میں ہر ایک سے یہ کہتا رہے کہ (مجھے) چھوؤ نہیں (یعنی مجھ کو موسیٰ نے گندہ قرار دے دیا ہے) اور (موسیٰ نے سامری سے یہ بھی کہا کہ) تیرے لئے ایک وقت مقرر ہے (یعنی سزا کا) جس کو تو ٹلا نہیں سکے گا اورتو اپنے معبود کی طرف دیکھ جس کے سامنے بیٹھ کر تو اس کی پرستش کیا کرتا تھا‘ ہم اس کو جلائیں [2]گے اور پھر اس کو سمندر میں پھینک دیں گے۔

عیسائی مصنّف اکثر اعتراض کرتے ہیں کہ بچھڑا سونے کا تھا اور سونا جل کر راکھ نہیں ہو سکتا۔ اس کا جواب یہ ہے کہ سامری کی غرض فریب تھی اور اس کے لئے بچھڑے کے منہ اور دُم میں لکڑی کے خول لگانے ضروری تھے تا ہوا آنے پر آواز نکلے۔ پس جب بچھڑا جلایا گیا تو ساتھ وہ خول بھی جلے اور ان کی راکھ بن گئی۔ جس کو موسٰیؑ نے سونے کی ریت کے ساتھ دریا میں پھینکوا دیا۔ (نَسَفَ کے معنے لغت میں پھینک دینے کے لکھے ہیں دیکھئے مفردات)

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

موسیٰؑ نے کہا " اچھا تو جا، اب زندگی بھر تجھے یہی پکارتے رہنا ہے کہ مجھے نہ چھونا اور تیرے لیے بازپُرس کا ایک وقت مقرر ہے جو تجھ سے ہرگز نہ ٹلے گا اور دیکھ اپنے اِس خدا کو جس پر تو ریجھا ہُوا تھا، اب ہم اسے جلا ڈالیں گے اور ریزہ ریزہ کر کے دریا میں بہا دیں گے

English - Sahih

[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast.

کہا بس چلا جا تیرے لیے زندگی میں یہ سزا ہے کہ توکہے گا ہاتھ نہ لگانا اورتیرے لیے ایک وعدہ ہے جو تجھ سے ٹلنے والا نہیں اور تو اپنے معبود کو دیکھ جس پر تو جما بیٹھا تھا ہم اسے ضرور جلا دیں گے پھر اسے دریا میں بکھیر کر بہا دیں گے

He said, "Then go. And indeed, for you in the life that you will say, "(Do) not touch." And indeed, for you (is) an appointment never you will fail to (keep) it. And look at your god that which you have remained to it devoted. Surely we will burn it then certainly we will scatter it in the sea (in) particles."

'Depart!' said Moses. 'It shall be thine all this life to cry "Untouchable!" And thereafter a tryst awaits thee thou canst not fail to keep Behold thy god, to whom all the day thou wast cleaving! We will surely burn it and scatter its ashes into the sea.

English - Maududi

Moses said: "Be gone, then. All your life you shall cry: 'Untouchable.' There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep. Now look at your god that you devotedly adored: We shall burn it and scatter its remains in the sea.

English - Ahmed Ali

(Moses) said: "Go hence! All your life you are (cursed) to say: 'Do not touch me; and a threat hangs over you which you will not be able to escape. Look at your god to whom you are so attached: We shall verily burn it, and disperse its ashes into the sea.
