يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَخَشَعَتِ ٱلْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

On that day they will follow the Caller straight, there being no deviation therefrom; and all voices shall be hushed before the Gracious God and thou shalt not hear but a subdued sound of footsteps.

English - Five Volume Translation

On that day they will follow the Caller whose teaching is without crookedness; and all voices shall be hushed before the Gracious God and thou shalt not hear but a subdued sound of footsteps.[2318]

Important Words:

ھمساً (subdued sound) is derived from ھمس (hamasa). They say ھمس الصوت i.e. he whispered in a subdued tone. ھمس الطعامmeans, he chewed the food while his mouth was shut. ھمس الی بحدیثه means, he narrated to me his story in a low voice. ھمس بالقدم means, he walked stealthily. الھمس means, low or subdued voice; or subdued sound of footsteps. أخذا ھمساً means, I seized him with a terrible seizure (Aqrab).

Commentary:

الداعی (the Caller) may refer to the Holy Prophet or his representative or Khalifah. The verse also alludes to the decline and ultimate destruction of the material power of the West and to the rise and ascendancy of Islam through a great Muslim Caller i.e. the Promised Messiah.

English - Short Commentary Translation

On that day they will follow the Caller[1853] in whose teaching is no crookedness; and all voices shall be hushed before the Gracious God and thou shalt not hear but a subdued murmur.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اس دن وہ اس دعوت دینے والے کی پیروی کریں گے جس میں کوئی کجی نہیں۔ اور رحمان کے احترام میں آوازیں نیچی ہوجائیں گی اور تُو سرگوشی کے سوا کچھ نہ سنے گا۔

C’est ce jour-là qu’ils suivront le Convocateur qui est intègre et sans défaut ; et toutes les voix s’étoufferont devant le Dieu Gracieux et tu n’entendras qu’un murmure.

An jenem Tage werden sie dem Rufer folgen, der keine Krümme hat; alle Stimmen werden gesenkt sein vor dem Gnadenreichen und nichts wirst du hören als ein leises Tappen von Füßen.

那一天, 他们将追随一个呼唤者, 那 (呼唤者的教义) 是没有任何歪曲的; 一切声音都在无限博爱的主宰之前沉默下来, 除了轻微的声音外, 你再听不到任何别的声音。

In quel giorno seguiranno Colui che li chiama e che è retto e senza tortuosità; e tutte le voci taceranno davanti al Dio Misericordioso e non udrai che un leggero suono di passi.

Spanish

En ese día, seguirán al Convocador que se mantiene recto, sin sinuosidad en su conducta; todas las voces se acallarán ante el Dios Clemente y no oirás más que un quedo sonido de pasos.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اس دن لوگ پکارنے والے کے پیچھے چل پڑیں گے جس کی تعلیم[1] میں کوئی کجی نہ ہوگی اور رحمن (خدا کی آواز) کے مقابلہ میں (انسانوں کی) آوازیں دب جائیں گی پس تو سوائے کھسر[2] پسر کے کچھ نہ سنے گا۔

یعنی جب دوسری قوموں پر تباہی آنی شروع ہوگی اور پہاڑ جیسی مضبوط قومیں تباہ ہو کر زمین سے لگ جائیں گی۔ تب لوگ اس نبی کو ماننے لگ جائیں گے جس کی تعلیم میں کوئی کجی نہ ہوگی۔ یعنی محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم‘ جیسا کہ قرآن کریم میں قرآنی تعلیم کی باربار یہی تعریف آتی ہے۔

یعنی ڈر کے مارے آوازیں دب جائیں گی۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اس روز سب لوگ منادی کی پکار پر سیدھے چلے آئیں گے، کوئی ذرا اکڑ نہ دکھا سکے گا اور آوازیں رحمان کے آگے دب جائیں گی، ایک سرسراہٹ کے سوا تم کچھ نہ سنو گے

English - Sahih

That Day, everyone will follow [the call of] the Caller [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps].

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اس دن پکارےنے والے کا اتباع کریں گے اس میں کوئی کجی نہیں ہوگی اور رحمان کے ڈر سے آوازیں دب جائیں گی پھر تو پاؤں کی آہٹ کے سوا کچھ نہیں سنے گا

On that Day they will follow the caller, no deviation from it. And (will be) humbled the voices for the Most Gracious, so not you will hear except a faint sound.

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

یعنی ڈر کے مارے آوازیں دب جائیں گی۔

On that day they will follow the Summoner in whom is no crookedness; voices will be hushed to the All-merciful, so that thou hearest naught but a murmuring.

English - Maududi

On that Day people shall follow straight on to the call of the summoner, no one daring to show any haughtiness. Their voices shall be hushed before the Most Compassionate Lord, so that you will hear nothing but a whispering murmur.

That day they will follow the summoner from whom there will be no receding; and their voices will be hushed before Ar-Rahman, and you will not hear a sound but faint shuffling.
