فَلَمَّا ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِيًّا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

So when he had separated himself from them and from that which they worshipped beside Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each of them We made a Prophet.

So when he had separated himself from them and from that which they worshipped beside Allah, [c]We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and each of them We made a Prophet.[2192]

Commentary:

Ishmael has not been mentioned here, though he was the eldest son of Abraham. This is done for two reasons:(1) Isaac and Jacob have been mentioned by the way only as subordinate Prophets while Ishmael has found a separate and independent mention in v. 55 below. This shows that Ishmael possessed a higher spiritual status than both Isaac and Jacob. (2) Ishmael has been mentioned after Moses because the latter was the greatest representative of the House of Isaac. As the result of repeated defiance of the commandments of God and rejection of His Messengers by the Jews prophethood became transferred from the House of Isaac or Israel (or from the Mosaic Dispensation) to that of Ishmael, so mention has been made of him after Moses in v. 55 and that is the right place where he should have been mentioned.

So when he had separated himself from them and from that which they worshipped beside Allah, [c]We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob[1778] and each of them We made a Prophet.

پس جب اس نے انہیں چھوڑ دیا اور اُن کو بھی جن کی وہ اللہ کے سوا عبادت کرتے تھے ہم نے اسے اسحاق اور یعقوب عطا کئے اور سب کو ہم نے نبی بنایا۔

French

Alors quand il se fut séparé d’eux et de ce qu’ils adoraient en dehors d’Allāh, Nous lui avons accordé Isaac et Jacob, et de chacun d’eux Nous avons fait un Prophète.

Als er sich nun von ihnen und von dem, was sie statt Allah verehrten, getrennt hatte, da bescherten Wir ihm Isaak und Jakob und machten beide zu Propheten.

Così, quando si separò da loro e da quanto adoravano oltre ad Allah, Noi gli demmo Isacco e Giacobbe, e di ognuno di essi Noi facemmo un profeta.

Así, cuando se hubo separado de ellos y de aquello a lo que adoraban en lugar de Al-lah, le concedimos a Isaac y Jacob, y a cada uno de ellos le hicimos Profeta.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پھر جب (ابراہیم) ان (یعنی اپنے لوگوں) سے بھی اور جن کی وہ اللہ کے سوا پوجا کرتے تھے (ان سے بھی) جدا ہو گیا‘ تو ہم نے اسے اسحاق اور (اس کے بعد) یعقوب عطا فرمائے اور ان سب کو ہم نے نبی بنایا۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

پس جب وہ اُن لوگوں سے اور اُن کے معبُودانِ غیر اللہ سے جُدا ہو گیا تو ہم نے اُس کو اسحاقؑ اور یعقوبؑ جیسی اولاد دی اور ہر ایک کو نبی بنایا

English - Sahih

So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet.

پھر جب ان سے علیحدٰہ ہوا اور اس چیز سے جنہیں وہ الله کے سوا پوجتے تھے ہم نے اسے اسحاق اور یعقوب عطا کیا اور ہم نے ہر ایک کو نبی بنایا
