نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَسْتَمِعُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِذْ يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِذْ هُمْ نَجْوَىٰٓ إِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَّسْحُورًا

We know best what they listen for, when they listen to thee, and when they confer in private, when the wrongdoers say, ‘You follow none but a man who is a victim of deception.’

We know best what they listen for, when they listen to thee, and when they confer in private, when the wrongdoers say, [a]‘You follow none but a man who is a victim of deception.’[1977]

25:9.

Commentary:

The expression نحن اعلم بما یستمعون به means that God knows full well the object of disbelievers in listening to the Holy Prophet. They listen to him in order to reject him and find fault with him. The expression may also mean that God is fully aware of the mental attitude of disbelievers to the Holy Prophet. They listen to him in a spirit of mockery and hostility.

The verse refers to some of the 'coverings' over the hearts of disbelievers, e.g. (a) they hold idolatrous beliefs; (b) they listen to the Quran in order to mock at it; (c) they look upon the Prophet as too weak to lead a successful movement; (d) they regard him as a victim of deception and (e) they consider him mad. All these various causes of the rejection of the Prophet by disbelievers are implied in the word مسحور (a victim of deception), which possesses a variety of meanings.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

ہم سب سے زیادہ جانتے ہیں کہ وہ کیا بات سُننا چاہتے ہیں جب وہ تیری طرف کان دھرتے ہیں اور جب وہ خفیہ مشوروں میں مصروف ہوتے ہیں۔ جب ظالم لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ تم محض ایک ایسے شخص کی پیروی کر رہے ہو جو سحر زدہ ہے۔

Nous savons mieux que quiconque ce qu’ils écoutent lorsqu’ils t’écoutent, et lorsqu’ils confèrent en secret, et que les impies disent, « Vous ne suivez qu’un homme ensorcelé. »

Wir wissen es am besten, worauf sie horchen, wenn sie dir zuhören, und wenn sie sich insgeheim bereden, dieweil die Frevler sprechen: "Ihr folgt nur einem der Sinne beraubten Manne."

Noi ben sappiamo che cosa cercano quando ti ascoltano, e quando confabulano in privato, allorché gli iniqui dicono: «Voi non seguite altro che un uomo vittima di un inganno.»

Sabemos muy bien lo que escuchan, cuando te oyen y cuando charlan en privado, cuando dicen los inicuos: “No seguís más que a un hombre víctima del engaño”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اور) جب وہ (بظاہر) تیری باتیں سن رہے ہوتے ہیں تو جس غرض کے ماتحت وہ تیری باتیں سن رہے ہوتے ہیں ہم اس کی حقیقت کو خوب جانتے ہیں اور (نیز) جب وہ باہم سرگوشی کر رہے ہوتے ہیں (اس کا بھی ہمیں علم ہوتا ہے اور) جب وہ ظالم (ایک دوسرے سے) کہہ رہے ہوتے ہیں (کہ) تم ایک فریب خوردہ شخص ہی کی پیروی کر رہے ہو (تو اس وقت بھی ہم سن رہے ہوتے ہیں)

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

ہمیں معلوم ہے کہ جب وہ کان لگا کر تمہاری بات سنتے ہیں تو دراصل کیا سنتے ہیں، اور جب بیٹھ کر باہم سرگوشیاں کرتے ہیں تو کیا کہتے ہیں یہ ظالم آپس میں کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ایک سحر زدہ آدمی ہے جس کے پیچھے تم لوگ جا رہے ہو

English - Sahih

We are most knowing of how they listen to it when they listen to you and [of] when they are in private conversation, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."

ہم خوب جانتے ہیں جس غرض سے یہ سنتے ہیں جب یہ لوگ تیری طرف کان لگاتے ہیں اور جس وقت آپس میں سرگوشیاں کرتے ہیں جب یہ ظالم کہتے ہیں کہ تم محض ایسے شخص کا ساتھ دیتے ہو جس پر جادو کیا گیا ہے
