وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ فِى عَامَيْنِ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَ إِلَىَّ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And We have enjoined on man concerning his parents — his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years — ‘Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے والدین کے حق میں تاکیدی نصیحت کی۔ اُس کی ماں نے اُسے کمزوری پر کمزوری میں اٹھائے رکھا۔ اور اس کا دودھ چھڑانا دو سال میں (مکمل) ہوا۔ (اُسے ہم نے یہ تاکیدی نصیحت کی) کہ میرا شکر ادا کر اور اپنے والدین کا بھی۔ میری ہی طرف لوٹ کر آنا ہے۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ہم نے یہ کہتے ہوئے کہ میرا اور اپنے والدین کا شکریہ ادا کر‘ انسان کو اپنے والدین کے متعلق (احسان کرنے کا) تاکیدی حکم دیا تھا (اور) اس کی ماں نے اسے کمزوری کے (ایک دور کے) بعد کمزوری (کے دوسرے دور) میں اٹھایا تھا۔ اور اس کا دودھ چھڑانا دو[1] سال کے عرصہ میں تھا (یاد رکھو کہ) میری ہی طرف (تجھ کو) لوٹ کر آنا ہوگا۔

سورۂ احقاف میں کہا گیا ہے کہ حَمْلُہٗ وَفِصَالُہٗ ثَـلَا ثُوْنَ شَھْرًا (آیت۱۶) یعنی بچے کا پیٹ میں رہنا اور دودھ چھڑانا تیس مہینے کی مدت میں ختم ہوتا ہے لیکن یہاں دو سال کہا ہے۔ اس کا جواب یہ ہے کہ بعض بچے جلد پیدا ہو جاتے ہیں اور کمزور ہوتے ہیں۔ بعض زیادہ دن میں پیدا ہوتے ہیں اور مضبوط ہوتے ہیں۔ دوسری آیت میں بتایا ہے کہ جب بچہ کمزور ہو اور جلد پیدا ہو جائے تو اس کے دودھ پلانے کا عرصہ لمبا کر دیا جائے تاکہ وہ مضبوط ہو جائے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]And We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents[2306]—his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years[2306A]––and said, ‘Give thanks to Me and to thy parents. Unto Me is the final return;

6:152; 29:9; 46:16.

This and the next verse form a parenthetical clause and refer to the second most important duty of man after his duty to God—his obligations to his fellow-beings which begin with his obligations to his parents.

The apparent contradiction between this and 46:16 seems to be that some children are born earlier than others and, therefore, being weaker in constitution, take longer time to be weaned.

Commentary:

This and the next verse form a parenthetical clause and refer to the second most important duty of man, after his duty to God—his obligations to mankind, which begin with his obligations to his parents. He is told that he must be good and kind to his parents. Luqman only referred to man’s duty to God, but God Himself supplements his exhortation by adding man’s duty to his parents and also gives the reason for doing so, viz. that parents undergo all sorts of sacrifice for their children, particularly the mother. She has, therefore, secured a special mention here.

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ہم نے انسان کو اپنے والدین کا حق پہچاننے کی خود تاکید کی ہے اُس کی ماں نے ضعف پر ضعف اُٹھا کر اسے اپنے پیٹ میں رکھا اور دو سال اُس کا دودھ چھوٹنے میں لگے (اِسی لیے ہم نے اُس کو نصیحت کی کہ) میرا شکر کر اور اپنے والدین کا شکر بجا لا، میری ہی طرف تجھے پلٹنا ہے

English - Sahih

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے ماں باپ کے متعلق تاکید کی ہے اس کی ماں نے ضعف پر ضعف اٹھا کر اسے پیٹ میں رکھا اور دو برس میں اس کا دودھ چھڑانا ہے تو میری اور اپنے ماں باپ کی شکر گزاری کرے میری ہی طرف لوٹ کر آنا ہے
