وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلْغَرْبِىِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَمْرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

And thou wast not on the western side of the Mount when We revealed the command to Moses, nor wast thou among the witnesses.

English - Five Volume Translation

And thou wast not on the western side of the Mount when We committed the matter of prophethood to Moses, nor wast thou among the witnesses.[2907]

Commentary:

The verse purports to say that the prophecy of Moses about the advent of the Holy Prophet (Deut. 18:18) has been fulfilled so clearly and in such detail as if he was present in person with Moses and the latter was actually seeing him when he was making the prophecy. The verse possesses a double significance. It proves the truth of Moses himself, inasmuch as he made a prophecy about the advent of the Holy Prophet which was literally fulfilled, and it proves also the truth of the Holy Prophet, as the prophecy made by Moses about the advent of "a Prophet like unto him from among the brethren of the Israelites" was fulfilled in his person in letter and in spirit.

English - Short Commentary Translation

And thou wast not on the western side of the Mount when We committed the matter of Prophethood to Moses nor wast thou among the witnesses.[2218]

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور تو (طُور کے) غربی جانب نہیں تھا جب ہم نے موسیٰ کی طرف امر بھیجا۔ اور تُو (چشم دید) گواہوں میں سے نہیں تھا۔

French

Et tu n’étais pas du côté occidental du Mont lorsque Nous avions communiqué à Moïse le commandement, et tu n’étais pas parmi les témoins.

German

Und du warst nicht auf der westlichen Seite, als Wir Moses den Auftrag gaben, noch warst du unter den Anwesenden.

当我把 (圣使的) 事务托付给穆撒时, 你不在 (山) 西边, 你也不在见证人中。

Italian

E tu non eri sul fianco occidentale del monte quando rivelammo il comando a Mosè, né eri tra i testimoni.

Spanish

Tú no estabas en la ladera occidental del Monte cuando revelamos la orden a Moisés, ni fuiste uno de los testigos.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور تو (طور کے) مغربی جانب نہیں تھا جب ہم نے موسیٰ کے سپرد (رسالت کا) کام کیا تھا[1] اور نہ تو (اس وقت) گواہوں میں سے ایک گواہ تھا۔

اس موقعہ پر وہ مشہور پیشگوئی موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو بتائی گئی تھی جس میں محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ذکر ہے۔ اسی کی طرف اشارہ ہے کہ تو اس وقت نہیں تھا تو پھر تو نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام سے پیشگوئی کس طرح کروائی؟

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

(اے محمدؐ) تم اُس وقت مغربی گوشے میں موجود نہ تھے جب ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو یہ فرمان شریعت عطا کیا، اور نہ تم شاہدین میں شامل تھے

English - Sahih

And you, [O Muhammad], were not on the western side [of the mount] when We revealed to Moses the command, and you were not among the witnesses [to that].

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور تم غربی جانب نہیں تھے جب ہم نے موسیٰ کی طرف حکم بھیجا اور نہ اس واقعہ کو دیکھنے والے تھے

And not you were on (the) side western when We decreed to Musa the Commandment and not you were among the witnesses.

Chinese Commentary ^*

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

Thou wast not upon the western side when We decreed to Moses the commandment, nor wast thou of those witnessing;

English - Maududi

(O Muhammad), you were then not on the western side when We bestowed this commandment (of Law), and you were not among its witnesses.

You were not there on the western side (of Mount Sinai) when We gave the commandments to Moses, nor were you witness (to the event).

Thou wast not on the Western side when We decreed the Commission to Moses, nor wast thou a witness (of those events).
