فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَٰبِدُونَ

And they said, ‘Shall we believe in two men like ourselves while their people are our servants?’

And they said, ‘Shall we believe in two men like ourselves while their people are our servants?’[2543]

Commentary:

As mentioned at several places in the Quran it is pride and conceit that have proved the undoing of many a people to whom a Divine Messenger was sent. A sense of false superiority stood in their way. In this and the preceding two verses the same story is told. Pharaoh and his chiefs said in false pride and arrogance how they could believe in persons whose people had served them as slaves.

And they said, ‘Shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people are our slaves?’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پس انہوں نے کہا کیا ہم اپنے جیسے دو انسانوں پر ایمان لے آئیں جبکہ ان دونوں کی قوم ہماری غلام ہے۔

Et ils dirent : « Croirons-nous en deux hommes pareils à nous-mêmes alors que leur peuple nous sert d’esclaves ? »

Sie sprachen: "Sollen wir an zwei Menschen gleich uns glauben, wo ihr Volk uns untertänig ist?"

他们说: “我们信仰像我们一样的两个人吗? 况且他俩的民族是我们的奴隶。”

Y dijeron: “¿Debemos acaso creer en dos hombres como nosotros cuando sus gentes son nuestros siervos?”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پھر انہوں نے کہا‘ کیا ہم اپنے جیسے دو انسانوں پر ایمان لے آئیں؟ حالانکہ ان دونوں کی قوم ہماری غلامی کر رہی ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

کہنے لگے "کیا ہم اپنے ہی جیسے دو آدمیوں پر ایمان لے آئیں؟ اور آدمی بھی وہ جن کی قوم ہماری بندی ہے"

They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"
