قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنَا ۖ فَٱقْضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍ ۖ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَآ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

They said, ‘We shall not prefer thee to the manifest Signs that have come to us, nor shall we prefer thee to Him Who has created us. So decree what thou wilt decree; thou canst only decree concerning this present life.

English - Five Volume Translation

They said, ‘We shall not prefer thee to the manifest Signs that have come to us, nor shall we prefer thee to Him Who has created us. [a]So decree what thou wilt decree; thou canst only decree concerning this present life.[2292]

26:51.

Commentary:

Mark the wonderful change that true faith works in man. The greedy and materialistic magicians who only a short while ago were asking for reward from Pharaoh, in the form of money, position or honour (7:114), became quite indifferent even to the most horrible form of death with which he threatened them when they found and accepted the truth.

English - Short Commentary Translation

They said, ‘We shall not prefer thee to the manifest Signs that have come to us, nor shall we prefer thee to Him Who has created us. [b]So decree what thou wilt decree; thou canst only decree concerning this present life;[1836]

26:51.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

انہوں نے کہا ہم ہرگز تجھے ان روشن نشانات پر ترجیح نہیں دیں گے جو ہم تک پہنچے ہیں اور نہ ہی اس پر (ترجیح دیں گے) جس نے ہمیں پیدا کیا۔ پس کر گزر جو تُو کرنے والا ہے۔ تُو محض اس دنیا کی زندگی کا فیصلہ کرسکتا ہے۔

French

Ils dirent : « Nous ne te donnerons pas préférence sur les Signes manifestes qui nous sont venus, et ni te préférerons-nous à Celui Qui nous a créés. Décrète donc ce que tu veux décréter ; tu peux seulement décréter concernant la vie de ce monde.

Sie sprachen: "Wir wollen dir auf keine Weise den Vorzug geben vor den deutlichen Zeichen, die zu uns gekommen sind, noch [vor Dem] Der uns erschaffen hat. Gebiete, was du gebieten magst: du kannst ja doch nur für dieses irdische Leben gebieten.

他们 (回答) 说: “我们绝不会选择你而放弃已来到我们的明显迹象和创造我们的 (养主)。[c]所以你判决你所要判决的吧! 你只能决定今世的生命;

Italian

Essi risposero: «Non ti preferiremo ai segni manifesti che abbiamo avuto, né ti preferiremo a Colui che ci ha creati. Decreta pure quello che vuoi decretare. Tu puoi decretare solo quel che concerne questa vita presente.

Spanish

Respondieron: “No te preferiremos a ti sobre los Signos manifiestos que nos han llegado, ni te preferiremos a Quien los ha creado. Ordena pues lo que se te antoje; pues sólo puedes decretar respecto a esta vida presente”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اس پر) انہوں نے (یعنی فرعون کے پہلے ساتھیوں یا ساحروں نے) کہا‘ ہم تجھ کو ان نشانات پر فوقیت نہیں دے سکتے جو (خدا کی طرف سے) ہمارے پاس آئے ہیں اور نہ اس (خدا) پر جس نے ہم کو پیدا کیا ہے۔ پس جو تیرا زور لگتا ہے لگا لے تو صرف اس دنیا کی زندگی کو ختم کر سکتا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

جادوگروں نے جواب دیا "قسم ہے اُس ذات کی جس نے ہمیں پیدا کیا ہے، یہ ہرگز نہیں ہو سکتا کہ ہم روشن نشانیاں سامنے آ جانے کے بعد بھی (صداقت پر) تجھے ترجیح دیں، تُو جو کچھ کرنا چاہے کر لے تو زیادہ سے زیادہ بس اِسی دُنیا کی زندگی کا فیصلہ کر سکتا ہے

English - Sahih

They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

کہا ہم تجھے ہرگزترجیح نہ دیں گے ان کھلی ہوئی نشانیوں کے مقابلہ میں جو ہمارے پاس آ چکی ہیں اورنہ اس کے مقابلہ میں جس نے ہمیں پیدا کیا ہے سو تو کر گزر جو تجھے کرنا ہے تو صرف اس دنیا کی زندگی پر حکم چلا سکتا ہے

English - Talal Itani

They said, "Never we will prefer you over what has come to us of the clear proofs, and the One Who created us. So decree whatever you (are) decreeing. Only you can decree (for) this life (of) the world.

The magicians answered: "By Him Who has created us, we shall never prefer you to the Truth after manifest Signs have come to us. So decree whatever you will. Your decree will pertain, at the most, to the present life of the world.

They replied: "We cannot choose you in the face of the clear testimony we have received, and over Him who created us. So do what you are determined to do. All that you would do will only be confined to our life on earth.
