قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you; forge not a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you by some punishment; and surely, he who forges a lie shall perish.’

English - Five Volume Translation

Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you, forge not a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you utterly by some punishment and, surely, he who forges a lie shall perish.’[2281]

Important Words:

فیسحتکم (destroy you utterly) is derived from سحت which means, he earned unlawful money.سحته او أسحته means, he destroyed him or it; exterminated him or it; he corrupted it. سحت رأسه means, he shaved his head so as to remove the hair utterly. ماله سحت means, his property may be taken and destroyed with impunity; دمه سحت means, his blood may be shed with impunity (Lane & Aqrab). See also 5:43.

Commentary:

The verse lays down an infallible criterion to test the truth of a claimant to Divine revelation, viz. that a forger of lies against God, though he may appear to progress and prosper for a while, ultimately perishes and comes to a miserable and ignoble end. This is a truth writ large on the pages of all religious history.

English - Short Commentary Translation

Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you, forge not a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you utterly by some punishment and, surely, he who forges a lie shall perish.’[1831]

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

موسیٰ نے ان سے کہا وائے افسوس تم پر! اللہ پر جھوٹ نہ گھڑو ورنہ وہ تمہیں عذاب سے تہس نہس کر دے گا۔ اور یقیناً وہ نامراد ہو جاتا ہے جو افترا کرتا ہے۔

Moïse leur dit : « Malheur à vous ! Ne fabriquez pas de mensonge contre Allāh, sinon Il vous détruira par quelque châtiment. Et sûrement, celui qui fabrique un mensonge périra. »

German

Moses sprach zu ihnen: "Wehe euch, ersinnet nicht Lüge wider Allah, damit Er euch nicht durch eine Strafe vernichtet. Wer eine Lüge ersinnt, der wird zuschanden werden."

Mosè disse loro: «Guai a voi. Non inventate menzogne contro Allah, se non volete che vi distrugga con qualche castigo; e non c'è dubbio che chi inventerà menzogne perirà.»

Moisés les dijo: “Ay de vosotros; no inventéis una mentira contra Al-lah, no sea que os destruya con algún castigo; pues en verdad quien inventa una mentira perecerá”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(تب) موسیٰ نے ان سے کہا‘ اے لوگو! تم پر ہلاکت ہو‘ اللہ پر جھوٹ نہ باندھو ایسا نہ ہو کہ وہ تم کو عذاب کے ذریعہ سے پیس ڈالے‘ اور جو کوئی (خدا پر) افترا کرتا ہے وہ ناکام ہو جاتا ہے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

موسیٰؑ نے (عین موقع پر گروہ مقابل کو مخاطب کر کے) کہا "شامت کے مارو، نہ جھُوٹی تہمتیں باندھو اللہ پر، ورنہ وہ ایک سخت عذاب سے تمہارا ستیاناس کر دے گا جھوٹ جس نے بھی گھڑا وہ نامراد ہوا"

English - Sahih

Moses said to the magicians summoned by Pharaoh, "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allah or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."

موسیٰ نے کہا افسوس تم الله پر بہتان نہ باندھو ورنہ وہ کسی عذاب سے تمہیں ہلاک کر دے گا اوربے شک جس نے جھوٹ بنایا وہ غارت ہوا

Said to them Musa, "Woe to you! (Do) not invent against Allah a lie, lest He will destroy you with a punishment. And verily, he failed who invented."
