وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘And we (angels) do not come down save by the command of thy Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us and all that is behind us and all that is between; and thy Lord is not forgetful.’

English - Five Volume Translation

And angels will say to them, ‘We do not come down save by the command of thy Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us and all that is behind us and all that is between; and thy Lord is not forgetful.’[2206]

Commentary:

This verse explains vv. 13:24-25 wherein it is said: And angels shall enter unto them from every gate, saying 'Peace be unto you, because you were steadfast' and signifies that the angels would say to the Faithful that they did not bring them greetings of peace of their own accord but with the express command of God, their heavenly Father, and on His behalf.

The words "And thy Lord is not forgetful" mean that God has not forgotten His promise that "He will raise from among the brethren of the Israelites (i.e. the Ishmaelites) a Prophet like unto Moses and will put His words into his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that He shall command him" (Deut. 18:18).

And the angels will say to them, ‘We do not come down save by the command of thy Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us and all that is behind us and all that is between; and thy Lord is not forgetful;’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور (فرشتے کہتے ہیں کہ) ہم نازل نہیں ہوتے مگر تیرے ربّ کے حکم سے۔ اُسی کا ہے جو ہمارے سامنے ہے اور جو ہمارے پیچھے ہے اور جو اُن کے درمیان ہے۔ اور تیرا ربّ بھولنے والا نہیں۔

French

Et les anges disent : « Nous ne descendons que sur ordre de ton Seigneur. A Lui appartiennent tout ce qui est devant nous et tout ce qui est derrière nous et tout ce qui est entre, et ton Seigneur n’est pas oublieux. »

German

Wir (Engel) kommen nur auf den Befehl deines Herrn hernieder. Sein ist alles, was vor uns und was hinter uns ist und was dazwischen; und dein Herr ist nicht vergesslich.

(天使对他们说:) “我们只因受你养主之命而下降。凡在我们前后及其中间的, 都是安拉的; 你的养主是不会忘事的;”

«Noi (gli angeli) non scendiamo se non per comando del tuo Signore. A Lui appartiene tutto quanto è davanti e dietro e in mezzo a noi; e il tuo Signore non dimentica nulla.»

Spanish

“Y nosotros (los ángeles) no bajamos sino por orden de tu Señor. A Él pertenece cuanto hay delante de nosotros, detrás de nosotros y en medio; pues tu Señor no es olvidadizo”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور (فرشتے ان سے کہیں گے کہ) ہم تو صرف تمہارے رب کے حکم سے اترتے ہیں اور جو کچھ ہمارے آگے ہے اور جو کچھ ہمارے پیچھے ہے اور جو کچھ ان دونوں (جہات) کے درمیان میں ہے سب کچھ خدا کا ہے اور تمہارا رب بھولنے والا نہیں۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے محمدؐ، ہم تمہارے رب کے حکم کے بغیر نہیں اُترا کرتے جو کچھ ہمارے آگے ہے اور جو کچھ پیچھے ہے اور جو کچھ اس کے درمیان ہے ہر چیز کا مالک وہی ہے اور تمہارا رب بھولنے والا نہیں ہے

English - Sahih

[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful -

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اورہم تیرے رب کے حکم کے سوا نہیں اترتے اسی کا ہے جو کچھ ہمارے سامنے ہے اور جو کچھ ہمارے پیچھے ہے اور جو کچھ اس کے درمیان ہے او ر تیرا رب بھولنے والا نہیں

And not we descend except by (the) Command (of) your Lord. To Him (belongs) what (is) before us and what (is) behind us, and what (is) between that. And not is your Lord forgetful

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

English - Arberry

We come not down, save at the commandment of thy Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us, and all that is behind us, and all between that.

English - Maududi

(The angels will say): "(O Muhammad!) We descend not except by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs all that is before us and all that is behind us, and all that is in between. Your Lord is not forgetful in the least.

English - Ahmed Ali

"We do not come down," (will the angels say) "but only by your Lord's command." To Him belongs whatever lies before us and behind us, and the space in between. Your Lord does not ever forget:
