وَٱتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ ءَابَآءِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ مَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نُّشْرِكَ بِٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

‘And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. We cannot indeed associate anything as partner with Allah. This is of Allah’s grace upon us and upon mankind, but most men are ungrateful.

[a]And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. We cannot indeed associate anything as partner with Allah. This is of Allah’s grace upon us and upon mankind, but most men are ungrateful.[1542]

2:134.

Commentary

The expression, This is of Allah’s grace upon us and upon mankind, shows that prophethood is a boon not only for the person on whom it is conferred, but also for the entire people to whom he is sent, for all men profit by it according to their respective capacities.

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]‘And I have followed the religion of my fathers— Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. It behoves us not to associate anything as partner with Allah. This is of Allah’s grace upon us and upon mankind, but most men are ungrateful;

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اور میں نے اپنے آباءو اجداد ابراہیم اور اسحاق اور یعقوب کے دین کی پیروی کی۔ ہمارے لئے ممکن نہ تھا کہ اللہ کے ساتھ کسی چیزکو شریک ٹھہراتے۔ یہ اللہ کے فضل ہی سے تھا جو اس نے ہم پر اور (مومن) انسانوں پر کیا لیکن اکثر انسان شکر نہیں کرتے۔

French

Et j’ai suivi la religion de mes pères, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob. Il ne nous convient pas d’associer à Allāh quoi que soit comme partenaire. Ceci est à cause de la grâce d’Allāh sur nous et sur l’humanité, mais la plupart des gens sont ingrats.

Und ich folge der Religion meiner Väter Abraham und Isaak und Jakob. Uns geziemt es nicht, Allah irgendetwas zur Seite zu stellen. Dies ist etwas von Allahs Huld gegen uns und gegen die Menschheit, jedoch die meisten Menschen sind undankbar.

E ho seguito la religione dei miei padri, Abramo e Isacco e Giacobbe. E davvero non possiamo associare ad Allah alcuna cosa. Questa è una grazia che Allah ha concesso a noi e a tutti gli uomini, ma la maggior parte degli uomini è ingrata.

Spanish

“He seguido la religión de mis padres, Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. En efecto, no podemos asociar a nadie con Al-lah. Ésta es la gracia de Al-lah con nosotros y con la humanidad, pero la mayoría de los hombres son desagradecidos”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور میں نے اپنے باپ دادوں یعنی ابراہیم اور اسحاق اور یعقوب کے طریق کی پیروی اختیار کی ہے۔ ہمیں کسی چیز کو بھی اللہ کا شریک ٹھہرانے کا حق نہیں ہے یہ (توحید کی تعلیم کا ملنا) ہم پر اور دوسرے لوگوں پر اللہ کا (اس کے خاص فضلوں میں سے) ایک فضل ہے‘ لیکن اکثر لوگ (اس کے احسانوں کا) شکر نہیں کرتے۔

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اپنے بزرگوں، ابراہیمؑ، اسحاقؑ اور یعقوبؑ کا طریقہ اختیار کیا ہے ہمارا یہ کام نہیں ہے کہ اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک ٹھیرائیں در حقیقت یہ اللہ کا فضل ہے ہم پر اور تمام انسانوں پر (کہ اس نے اپنے سوا کسی کا بندہ ہمیں نہیں بنایا) مگر اکثر لوگ شکر نہیں کرتے

English - Sahih

And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful.

اردو ترجمہ احمد علی

اور میں اپنے باپ دادا ابراھیم اور اسحاق اور یعقوب کے مذہب کا تابع ہو گیا ہوں ہمیں یہ جائز نہیں کی اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو بھی شریک کریں یہ ہم پر اور سب لوگوں پر اللہ کا فضل ہے لیکن بہت لوگ شکر نہیں کرتے

And I follow (the) religion (of) my forefathers, Ibrahim, and Isaac and Yaqub. Not was for us that we associate with Allah any thing. That (is) from (the) Grace (of) Allah upon us, and upon the mankind but most (of) the men (are) not grateful.

And I have followed the creed of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Not ours is it to associate aught with God. That is of God's bounty to us, and to men; but most men are not thankful.

and I have adopted the way of my forefathers - Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. It is not for us to associate any with Allah in His Divinity. It is out of Allah's grace upon us and upon mankind (that He did not require of us to serve any other than Allah), and yet most people do not give thanks.
